Registration open: 11 theme camps and workshops for young people

11.10.2022 - 10:23 - Germany
In our cooperation project "Six Days for Future", eleven theme camps and workshops for youths and young adults will take place this year. It's all about sustainability in the world of work, personal career orientation and lots of fun. The first workshop will take place during the Easter holidays and the next one on Ascension Day weekend. As always, participation is free of charge. We look forward to receiving your registrations.

This year's holiday programme "Six Days for Future" (6d4f) starts on 19 April. It starts with "Media, Micro, Subculture", where fields of work from this area are presented and tried out. If you want to know how podcasts are created, the camp in the Easter week is just right. The camp continues in May. Under the title "Blossom, Foliage, Flower Shop", we will deal with sustainable floristry together with the participants. In the course of the year, other occupational fields will follow, for example in gastronomy, construction, transport and textiles. Many of the courses take place during the Saxon summer and autumn holidays.

"Young people of Generation Z are driven by two big questions: How liveable will our world be in the near future? And what is my own role in it? With our thematic camps and workshops, we enable young people to deal with these questions and find suitable perspectives for themselves."

Claudia Holbe, Head of Global Learning/ESD

Getting to know professions with sustainability in mind

Our theme camps and workshops focus on young people and their questions about their future and career choices. Together we explore professions and industries with a focus on sustainability. The focus is on personal ways and possibilities of how resource- and climate-friendly actions can be implemented in the world of work and everyday life. To this end, we work closely with partner institutions from the field. They bring their expertise on the working world in different sectors.

Everyone between the ages of 14 and 24 is welcome

All young people between the ages of 14 and 24 who live in Saxony, Thuringia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg and Saxony-Anhalt can take part in the camps and workshops. Most of the offers are barrier-free. Sign language interpreters enable deaf people to participate. Young people with a migration background are specifically addressed. We work without stereotypes and convey all project contents in a gender- and diversity-sensitive way.

All information and all dates of the eleven camps and workshops are available here: www.6days4future.de

In order to present our project as well as the camps and workshops in detail, we also offer an online information event where you can get rid of all your questions. The event will be translated into sign language (DGS) as well as Arabic, Russian and Persian.

Good marks for the events in 2021

2021 was a successful year for the project despite the epidemic situation. All nine planned events in different locations could be carried out in presence. A total of 106 adolescents and young adults from all over Saxony and parts of Thuringia took part in the offers. They gave our camps good marks. In the evaluation, the participants attested that they had a lot of fun and gained valuable experience. There was a lot of praise for the fact that the participants and camp leaders worked at eye level at all times.

"It was not as exhausting as at school. No one spoke from above, but always on the same level and with a lot of understanding. Besides, all tasks were voluntary," one participant summed up.

Practical information is also available online

In addition to the classroom events, we want to motivate young people to do something for the environment, the climate and a fair society in their professional and personal lives. On the #zukunftsberufe-Blog von „Six Days for Future“ there are many articles, infographics and exciting quizzes, where everything revolves around #future professions and #sustainability at work. Have fun reading!
