arche noVa is improving living conditions in host communities
arche noVa is active were the IDPs reside. Many of them do not live in camps but found shelter somewhere in the homes of relatives or friends. One of the regions where refugees fled to is the district Diyala. arche noVa is providing for them with three mobile medical teams.
The families gladly accept the offer of basic medical care. In addition to the discussions, diagnoses and treatments by the doctors, arche noVa and its mobile teams also provide medication.
Abdullatef Mohammed Shnawa takes time for each patient. The health team takes care of both newly arrived and resident villagers. Everybody suffers equally from the difficult supply situation in the region.
To improve the living conditions sustainably arche noVa staff maintains and constructs the local water and sanitation system. The photo shows a pumping station about to be fixed. In other places the team extends sewers or repairs wells.
There is construction works going on in Gabia village as well. Here a school latrine will be constructed. It is going to improve the hygiene situation for children notably and provide protection especially for girls.
At Tel Mangel School construction works have been taken one step further already. These school girls are exited about their new sanitation facility that yet has to be rendered and painted.
