"One World = Your World" seeks school for digital pilot project

The team of the "One World = Your World" project of arche noVa is looking for a school that dares to implement a project day digitally. We have created the conditions for this in the past months with the development of new online formats. Education for sustainable development (ESD) and global learning is now also available digitally and remains interactive and target group oriented.

The team of the "One World = Your World" project of arche noVa managed to carry out quite a few project days last year, despite COVID-19. At the beginning, our offers still took place in Saxon classrooms as usual and nobody suspected what changes and challenges would soon come our way. The situation changed in March with the introduction of contact restrictions.

At first, we still hoped that we were only dealing with a transitional situation. But one event after another was canceled on us. Soon it was clear that we would have to relaunch our offers digitally in order to continue to fill our "One World = Your World" project with content and not lose our target groups.

Easier said than done. After all, the quality of our offerings, such as school project days, lies precisely in the fact that they are interactive, action-oriented and participatory. Adopting this in new, digital formats was a major challenge.


How can global learning be implemented without direct contact?

We found the answer in the team. We put our heads together (online) and looked for ideas on which tools and methods could be used to implement our project days digitally. We needed a lot of capacity and time for this. So suddenly, despite the cancelled face-to-face events, we had a lot more work than before.

But the long hours of work were rewarded with success: Our baptism of fire was an online workshop on the topic of climate and climate change at the first digital World Wide Knowledge Congress in June 2020. The technology and moderation worked, our input met with open eyes and ears, and there was good feedback from the participants.

Other positive results followed and new collaborations have also emerged along the digitalization path. For example, we worked with the Rhineland-Palatinate Pedagogical Institute to develop three digital workshops for students and teachers, preparing them to run the "Keep Cool" climate game in their schools.


Volunteer groups already digital

Im Laufe des vergangenen Jahres kamen die Zusagen und Anfragen nach digitalen Angeboten zu unseren Themen langsam in Fahrt. Immer mehr Freiwilligenorganisationen schwenkten auf eine digitale Umsetzung ihrer Seminarwochen um, als klar wurde, dass Präsenzveranstaltungen auf absehbare Zeit untersagt bleiben. Auch in den Schulen boten wir unsere digitalen Formate zur Bildung für nachhaltige Entwicklung an. Doch hier gibt es immer noch Anlaufschwierigkeiten. Um Online-Projekttage umsetzen zu können, müssen in den Schulen die Voraussetzungen stimmen. Die sind vielerorts noch nicht gegeben. An viele Schulen hakt es bei der Digitalisierung des Regelunterrichts. An zusätzliche Angebote, wie Projekttage, scheinen sich Schulen kaum heranzuwagen. Bis heute konnten wir deshalb unsere Online Projekttage mit Schulen noch nicht umsetzen.

That's why we are now looking for a pilot school that would like to implement a digital project day with us. A good record so far

Mittlerweile sind Online Projekttage bei arche noVa Alltag geworden. Uns gelingt es, Inhalte an unsere Zielgruppen zu vermitteln, während Bildungseinrichtungen geschlossen sind. Insgesamt betrachten wir unsere Weiterentwicklung in der digitalen Welt der Bildungsmöglichkeiten trotz aller Hürden als großen Gewinn und Erfolg. Wir konnten bisher immerhin 16 Online-Projekttage umsetzen. Die Themen reichten von Flucht und Migration über Essen, Wasser, Nachhaltigkeit, Globalisierung bis zu Klima inklusive Methodenschulung zum Spiel „Keep cool“.

Auch wenn der persönliche Kontakt, Interaktion und realer Austausch vor Ort wichtige Komponenten für unsere Arbeit darstellen, freuen wir uns, unsere Inhalte auch auf dem digitalen Wege vermitteln zu können. Nicht zuletzt lassen sich so, auch Menschen in weit entfernten Orten erreichen. Auf die ersten realen Projekttage freuen wir uns dennoch riesig.
