10.12.2024 - 15:10 - Syrien
With the escalation of the conflict and the fall of the Assad regime last week, the situation in Syria has changed drastically. People are currently living in a state of emergency. arche noVa remains in the country and is providing humanitarian aid together with local partner organizations.

The fighting in northern Syria last week claimed numerous civilian lives and further worsened the supply situation for people in the region. After the fall of the Assad regime, the situation remains unclear. Stores and public facilities are closed in many places, there is a dramatic lack of food.

At the same time, it is expected that many Syrians who previously fled to Lebanon and Turkey will return to their home country in the coming weeks. All these people will reach Syria only with what they can carry with them.

arche noVa has been active in Syria since 2012 and also provided emergency aid after the severe earthquake in the northwest of the country in 2023. Thanks to our experience and close cooperation with local partner organizations, we were able to respond immediately to the latest developments. Together, we have expanded our activities and will, among other things, distribute hygiene products and 40,000 bread packages to the affected population in the next few days.

Our local employees are mobilizing all their resources in these hours to provide people in the country with food. At the same time, we are already planning further steps, because the need for aid will continue to increase in the coming days.
