WASH is versatile

Biosand filters are a very cheap and effective way to remove bacterial pathogens from the filled water. In training courses the village communities learn how these filters work and how to handle them correctly.

Only hand washing with soap helps effectively against viruses and bacteria. For this reason, the women's self-help groups regularly produce soap.

Garbage is a good breeding ground for pathogens. The women's groups have therefore established a waste disposal system in the communities, like here in Kiziru.

In the district of Mukono, educational campaigns on Covid-19 are underway, and the women's groups also produce everyday masks themselves.
