Bread is the number one food in Syria. It accompanies all meals. The dough is made of wheat, yeast, salt, water and olive oil. All ingredients are bought in the region; the bread is mady by local bakeries. Thus, arche noVa supports the local economy.
Fresh bread comes out of the oven non-stop. It is packed into one-kilogram-parcels at once. arche noVa distributes 4,000 parcels at five times a week.
We have to transport the bread to the families, because our project area is large and most of the people lack transport facilities. Our team and cars are working constantly.
It is often up to the children to go to the distribution points. Before they receive bread they have to show their collection voucher, which arche noVa issued to needy families.
