Our emergency aid for people in northern Syria

Ahmed Hassan is one of the people whose living conditions have worsened as a result of the earthquake. The bread he regularly receives from our partner organization Bonyan helps him to ensure his family's survival.

Regular bread distributions are an important part of our emergency aid in northern Syria. In order to ensure the regular distribution of bread, we are supporting the (re)opening of local bakeries.

To ensure that the families in the refugee camps have safe access to drinking water, we provide them with tanks that are regularly refilled.

The distribution of seeds for kitchen gardens enables people living in informal settlements to be more self-sufficient.

Our partner organizations regularly distribute food parcels and hygiene kits in the region, which has been marked by war and displacement. These contain various items needed for basic hygiene – for example toothpaste, detergent and soap.

Clothing that fits and keeps them warm – this is something that children in northern Syria in particular lack. At the distributions organized by our partners, families can equip themselves with urgently needed items of clothing.

Being able to eat a healthy meal made from fresh ingredients is anything but a matter of course for many people in northern Syria. Our partner organizations Bonyan and Takaful al Sham regularly distribute food parcels and electronic vouchers for shopping in local shops.

The informal refugee camps are cramped and confusing. To protect particularly vulnerable people after dark, we install solar-powered lighting systems.
