Constructions and rehabilitations defuse the water crisis

Positive news from Northern Iraq: our new water project in the rural communities of our project area has started. The first operation side was the community Gakol, where the work was recently completed. Our project team built a water supply network. This is an immense easement for the 142 families in Gakol. So far the water supply was a complex affair. In total the water systems in 13 villages will be vindicated, supplemented or constructed in the coming months.

Gokol, for example, had already a central well, however the families had to fetch their total requirements with canisters. This was especially exhausting for old people, women and children. Due to the water supply network all families now own a house connection. The people are very grateful for the project. It makes their lives easier and also allows them to cancel the temporary storage, which was a serious health risk.

The new water project rounds off our humanitarian operation in Northern Iraq. It includes the area, where also our three mobile medical teams support the population and where many internal displaced persons found refuge from the military fighting. Since arche noVa provides humanitarian aid in the rural communities in the North of Governments Diyala, we have been aware that the bad water supply needed to be solved.

We thank all our supporters and donors, who enabled this project. We would like to support more local and displaced families and therefore welcome further donations.
