Topic: Disaster Risk Reduction

Tsunamis, extreme precipitation or earthquakes: natural disasters possess an enormously destructive force. They occur more and more frequently, and especially many poor countries suffer as a result. Those affected require urgent support. arche noVa provides rapid disaster relief and supplies people with e.g. clean drinking water and food.

However, it is particularly important to look ahead after such a catastrophe. We cooperate closely with the local people to help them prepare for future disasters. The activities include building evacuation centers and founding catastrophe committees as well as organizing trainings and emergency exercises for the population.

We focus on involving the affected people right from the beginning, using their abilities and strengthening their independence. Thus, we can improve the resilience to natural disasters of entire regions in the long term.
